Professor Chris Aldrich holds a Chair in Process Systems Engineering in the Western Australian School of Mines at Curtin University. In addition, he is an Extraordinary Professor at Stellenbosch University in South Africa and an Honorary Professor at the University of Queensland. His core expertise is in process automation in the mining and metallurgical process industries, with a strong focus on data analytics and machine learning.

Earlier in his career, he was a recipient of among other the British Association (S2A3) Silver Medal and President’s Award of the Foundation of Research and Development (FRD) in South Africa for international recognition of his research.

Prior to emigrating to Australia, he was the Founding Director of the Anglo Platinum Centre of Excellence in Process Monitoring at Stellenbosch University. At present, he is a Chief Investigator in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Enabling Eco-Efficient Beneficiation of Minerals, the ARC Industrial Transformation & Training Centre for Green Chemistry in Manufacturing, as well as the ARC Training Centre for Transforming Maintenance through Data Science. He is Fellow of the South African Academy of Engineering (FSAAE) and the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (FAusIMM), as well as Technical Committee (TC 6.2) Chair of the International Federation of Automatic Control in Mining, Minerals and Metal Processing.
