Dr Sibasis Acharya is currently serving as Technical Director at an ASX-listed gold mining company in Australia. He brings over 20 years of diverse experience in the metallurgy and mining industry, spanning the full project lifecycle — from early-stage development, feasibility studies, and engineering design to commissioning and production ramp-up. His extensive background includes leadership roles across operations, research, business development, and project delivery, with exposure to a wide range of commodities including gold, silver, copper, zinc, nickel, cobalt, and iron. In his current role, he plays a key part in shaping the strategic direction of the company, overseeing operational activities, and engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to drive business outcomes.

He is deeply passionate about the sustainable use of the Earth’s natural resources, striving to drive innovation and implement cutting-edge technologies in the mining and mineral processing sector. His work is focused on delivering forward-thinking solutions while building systems at the forefront of the digital world.
He has been recognised as a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), UK, the Institute of Managers and Leaders (IML), and the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM). In addition, he has been honoured with an Honorary Fellowship from the International Association for Engineering and Technology (IAET).
With a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and technical memoranda, he has successfully addressed diverse audiences at both national and international conferences. He also contributes to the academic and professional community as an editor, reviewer, and technical advisor for several journals in the fields of materials science, metallurgy, and mineral processing.
