Mark O'Brien spent more than two decades in mining, most recently as General Manager Digital Technology & Innovation (CIO) at CITIC Pacific Mining, Australia's largest magnetite operation. He now runs Embrion Advisory, an independent practice advising boards and executives on AI and the technology change around it. He pairs a technical grounding with years spent inside the industry and a talent for explaining hard things plainly, so audiences can cut through the complexity and make smart decisions. Mark is the immediate past Chair of the Global Mining Guidelines Group, Vice-Chair of SAUG, and Chair of the ANZ Mining CIO Forum. He holds degrees in mathematics, computer science and philosophy, is completing a PhD in AI and machine ethics, and takes no vendor commissions.
