Previously a Process Engineer, Plant Manager and Head of Concentrators at Mogalakwena (Anglo American - Platinum, South Africa), Ashina has a wealth of operational expertise. Five years ago, Ashina pivoted from operational management to strategy and has held leading roles relating to digitalisation in mining. Today Ashina leads the Business Intelligence and Data Analytics function at Anglo American.

Ashina's function and team are extremely diverse including Product Development, Data, Operational Reporting, Data Science, DevOps and more recently establishing an AI Centre of Excellence. In digitalisation, Ashina combines her practical knowledge of operations, keen business acumen (MBA, GIBS 2017), and an amazing ability to bring together a diverse set of technical leaders. Ashina is a global recognised leader in digital (DataIQ 30 Africa, 2025) and the digital products and services under her leadership have extended to support/improve/optimise all parts of Anglo American.
