Fred has worked in the oil & gas business for 44 years performing in a wide range of technical and management roles with E&P operators and major service companies with operations in Canada, United States and Australia.

Fred considers himself as a digital immigrant bringing past experiences forward to a modern, digitized world which leverages technology to help deliver operations excellence and organizational change to the way we operate.

Currently he is based in Houston, TX and is a Principal Consultant with Stepchange Global which is an independent advisory company supporting operators to develop and deliver their Integrated Operations Programs, Digital Transformation Projects, IOC Health Checks and Assessments.

He has authored and co-authored several SPE papers and has presented them at industry conferences across North America.

His prior roles include being Director of Operational Technology at Xecta Digital labs where he was responsible for developing a cloud based digital platform leveraging real -time data to deliver management by exception and anomaly detection to support operations.

Previously he was Team Leader for Murphy Oil’s remote operations center and Senior Artificial Lift Advisor for their Eagle Ford unconventional asset in South Texas.

He also worked with Santos, Australia’s largest onshore operator supporting their artificial lift program, automation and optimization of a large and remote conventional asset located in the ‘Outback’ of Australia as well as helping support the company’s major coal bed methane project in Queensland.
