Alex is a proud father of two and the Digital Transformation lead for BHP's South Flank Operations, which will account for approximately a third of BHP's iron ore production once ramped up to full capacity. In this role, Alex has brought together front-line operators and maintainers with technology experts to deliver practical safety and productivity outcomes from emerging technologies such as IIOT, Edge computing and Mixed Reality.

Since joining BHP in 2008, Alex has held a variety of roles working with teams in a diverse range of fields; from investment evaluation to construction, from prefeasibility studies to equipment autonomy, technology development to portfolio management, from project delivery to product management to name a few.

Alex is co-inventor and product owner for the patented Dash Maintainer Tools solution, and proud to have built the winning team for BHP's 2020 Safety Excellence Award, Australian Mining's IIOT Excellence Award Core Resources Hub 2020 Hot 30 Innovators and the prestigious AustMine 2021 Miners Innovation Award.

In addition to his role at BHP, Alex is also an Industry Secondee at Microsoft, working together with world leading technologists on sustainability initiatives and empowering front-line industrial workers with modern technologies.
