Diederik Lugtigheid is currently the Director of the AHS Project for Roy Hill Iron Ore, Western Australia. In his current role, he leads the Roy Hill team that is working with Epiroc, ASI Mining and Sedna to deploy the world’s first fully interoperable Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) into one of the largest iron ore mines in the world.
Diederik has a long history working in mining automation & technology projects for mining companies, OEMs and distributors. Whilst working at Rio Tinto from 2006 until 2012, he led the team that deployed the first Komatsu AHS fleet into Rio Tinto’s iron ore operations. Subsequently, he also led Caterpillar’s first AHS deployment at FMG’s Solomon mine. In recent years from 2016 until 2021, Diederik was based in Santiago, Chile where he was the VP of Product Support & the AHS Support Centre for Komatsu in Latin America.
Diederik Lugtigheid holds a MSc in Mining Engineering from the Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada.
